Chewys M. Parra Paulino
designer, M.Arch, B.EnvD

Chewys is architectural designer, principal and co-founder of METISMETIS - an architectural and design studio based in Paris and founded in New York.

Made in Dominican Republic and born-raised in San Juan, Puerto Rico, Chewys grew up dancing with hurricanes, and wanting to go to the Olympics. He fell in love with the impact that design and architecture has in people’s lives and decided to start by completing a Bachelors in Environmental Design (B.EnvD) from the University of Puerto Rico in Río Piedras, where he was part of the AEC - PBL Lab at Stanford University. Following his preparation, He completed a M.Arch from Tulane University. He was recognized with the design excellence award at the UPR and as a Public Interest Design Fellow at Tulane University’s Small Center.

Growing up in and out of a woodshop, he finds building and fabricating an extension of design, and vice-versa. That mix has led him to pursue design-build as a way of thinking. Chewys has architectural work experience in Puerto Rico and founded a Design & Fabrication Workshop in San Juan in 2018, where he Led as design director until 2021. His work has earned accolades, including an AIA New Orleans Design Awards nomination along with the Small Center, and a Finalist recognition in Archstorming’s Senegal Elementary School competition in 2020.

Chewys has been a Project Designer for LSCNYC in Brooklyn, NY since 2021. He on track to finalize the Registered Architect title.

Now in Paris, Chewys pursues architectural, furniture, and object design projects + collaboration through METISMETIS.

His main driver has been to provide responsible, efficient and dignifying design.
